THE CLOUD 18 STORY
Cloud 18 is an alt rock quartet based in Albany NY. The four guys met when they were randomly roomed together as freshmen at the University at Albany, through the Theatre Living Learning Community Program. The name "Cloud 18" refers to the group's affectionate nickname for their original dorms on the 18th floor of UAlbany's Eastman Tower. After a couple months of touring around open mics in the capital region as a solo act, Zach took his songwriting and guitar skills and combined with Andrew's drumming talent to form Cloud 18's precursor "A to Z." Nathan and Ayele would soon pick up the keyboard and bass respectively and join the group, making it the Cloud 18 we know and love today. Nathan has since also contributed his lyrical ability to multiple songs in the Cloud 18 repertoire. Today, the boys are jamming across the NY Capital Region and beyond! Cloud 18 is excited to share their music with the world, starting with their debut studio album Shower Thoughts, streaming now on all platforms!
ZACH MONTELEON
Lead Singer/Guitarist
Zach is a singer, musician, and actor currently studying Theatre at UAlbany. He has been singing and writing songs for as long as he can remember. Zach was born and raised on Staten Island but now splits his time between the NY Capital Region and Central NJ (which really does exist) . Though he is a man of many passions, his dream has always been to share his music with the world. He picked up his first guitar at about six years old to write his first songs and the rest was history. Releasing Shower Thoughts with Cloud 18 fulfilled a lifelong dream and he can't wait to do it again and again in the future.
ANDREW MERCADO
Drummer/Backup Vocals
Andrew is the drummer and the main backup vocalist for Cloud 18. Originally from the Putnam Valley area, Andrew has been bangin' drums since the third grade and singing since the 11th. Playing music professionally has been his dream for a while and he can't think of a more fun way to share his music than jamming with Cloud 18!
NATHAN COOPER
Keyboards
Originally from Monroe NY, Nathan started learning the keyboard when Cloud 18 was a concept in the guys' minds. He's been playing since the fall of 2018 and is almost entirely self taught. Already an avid poet and creative writer, Nathan has dove head first into the world of songwriting as well. His lyrics can be heard on "Run Me Through" and "Sim City" and he can't wait to write even more!
AYELE BROCKINGTON
Bass
After retiring from the world of love, the Long Islander JellyMan Bass Boy picked up a bass to learn it and join the legendary quartet Cloud 18 to save the world from good vibes and poverty.
